Provided is a multicolor diamond that is a single diamond having a plurality of colors, and exhibits different color tones when viewed at different angles. This production method comprises: a diamond base formation step for forming a diamond base using HPHT; a first diamond crystal growth step for growing a diamond crystal on the diamond base using CVD; a diamond crystal abrasion step for abrading a surface of the grown diamond crystal on which the next growth is to occur; and a second diamond crystal growth step for growing the next diamond crystal on the abraded surface using CVD, wherein the diamond crystal abrasion step and the second diamond crystal growth step are repeated for a desired number of times. A gas mixture of hydrogen and methane in CVD contains at least one of the elements included in periods 1 to 3 of the periodic table, calcium, titanium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum, tungsten, and iridium.

La présente invention concerne un diamant multicolore qui est un diamant unique ayant une pluralité de couleurs, et qui fait preuve de différents tons de couleur lorsqu’il est visualisé sous des angles différents. Ledit procédé de production comprend : une étape de formation de base de diamant pour former une base de diamant en utilisant HPHT ; une première étape de croissance de cristal de diamant pour faire croître un cristal de diamant sur la base de diamant en utilisant la CVD ; une étape d’abrasion de cristal de diamant pour abraser une surface du cristal de diamant cultivé sur lequel l’étape suivante de croissance se produit ; et une seconde étape de croissance de cristal de diamant pour faire croître le prochain cristal de diamant sur la surface abrasée en utilisant la CVD, où l’étape d’abrasion de cristal de diamant et la seconde étape de croissance de cristal de diamant sont répétées sur un nombre souhaité de fois. Un mélange gazeux d’hydrogène et de méthane dans la CVD contient au moins l’un des éléments compris dans les périodes 1 à 3 du tableau périodique des éléments, du calcium, du titane, du manganèse, du fer, du cobalt, du nickel, du molybdène, du tungstène, et de l’iridium.
