Provided is a heat exchange unit utilizing a flammable refrigerant, which is configured so that, even if the refrigerant leaks, the possibility of ignition caused by an ignition source which is electrical equipment within the casing of the heat exchange unit can be reduced. A heat exchange unit (100) exchanges heat between a liquid medium delivered to a utilization-side facility and a flammable refrigerant circulating through a refrigerant circuit, thereby cooling and/or heating the liquid medium. The heat exchange unit is provided with a utilization-side heat exchanger (10), electrical components (20, 61, 93) which can be ignition sources, and a casing. In the utilization-side heat exchanger, heat is exchanged between the refrigerant and the liquid medium. The casing is installed within a machine compartment and houses the utilization-side heat exchanger and the electrical components, which can be ignition sources. The electrical components, which can be ignition sources, are mounted above the position (UP) of the upper end of a refrigerant gas accumulation space (V) provided such that, if the entire amount of the refrigerant in the refrigerant circuit should leak out into the machine compartment and accumulate as a refrigerant gas in the lower part of the machine compartment, the refrigerant gas would accumulate in the refrigerant gas accumulation space (V).
