Ein Verbrennungsmotor umfasst mehrere Motoreinheiten (50A-50C) mit jeweils einem Arbeitsraum (11), in dem zwei Drehkolben (20, 30) ineinandergreifend angeordnet sind und so den Arbeitsraum (11) in einen Einströmbereich (12) und einen Ausströmbereich (13) teilen. Jede Motoreinheit umfasst einen verschließbaren Einlass (62A-62C) zum Einströmbereich (12) und einen verschließbaren Abgas-Auslass (64A-64C). Der Verbrennungsmotor umfasst weiterhin ein Zuleitungsrohr (60) zu den Einlässen (62A-62C) und ein Abgassammelrohr (66), das mit den Abgas-Auslässen (64A-64C) verbunden ist, so dass die Motoreinheiten (50A-50C) parallel zueinander verbunden sind. Weiterhin umfasst der Verbrennungsmotor Abgasleitungen (63A, 63B), welche die Motoreinheiten (50A, 50B) seriell miteinander verbinden. Abhängig von einer gewünschten Leistungsausgabe betreibt eine Steuereinrichtung (70) einige der Motoreinheiten (50B, 50C) entweder als Verbrennungsmotoren, wobei der jeweilige Einlass (62B-62C) geöffnet wird, oder als Entspannungsmotoren, wobei der jeweilige Einlass (62B-62C) geschlossen bleibt und die jeweiligen Drehkolben (20, 30) vielmehr durch Abgas, das über die jeweilige Abgasleitung (63A, 63B) einströmt, angetrieben werden.

An internal combustion engine comprises a plurality of engine units (50A-50C), each having a working space (11), in which two rotary pistons (20, 30) are arranged so as to engage in one another and thus divide the working space (11) into an inflow region (12) and an outflow region (13). Each engine unit comprises a closable inlet (62A-62C) to the inflow region (12) and a closable exhaust gas outlet (64A-64C). The internal combustion engine also comprises a feed-line pipe (60) to the inlets (62A-62C) and an exhaust gas collection pipe (66), which is connected to the exhaust gas outlets (64A-64C), such that the engine units (50A-50C) are connected parallel to one another. The internal combustion engine also comprises exhaust gas lines (63A, 63B) which connect the engine units (50A, 50B) to one another in series. According to a desired power output, a control device (70) operates some of the engine units (50B, 50C) either as internal combustion engines, wherein an inlet (62B-62C) is opened, or as expansion engines, wherein an inlet (62B-62C) remains closed and the rotary pistons (20, 30) are driven rather by exhaust gas, which flows in via the exhaust gas line (63A, 63B).

L’invention concerne un moteur à combustion interne comprenant plusieurs unités moteur (50A-50C) présentant chacune une chambre de travail (11) dans laquelle deux pistons rotatifs (20, 30) sont agencés en prise l’un avec l’autre et divisent ainsi la chambre de travail (11) en une zone d’admission (12) et une zone d’évacuation (13).
