The random access (RA) procedure in NR-U can be improved by enable the NR-U capable UE to choose a suitable BWP and uses this chosen BWP to perform the RA procedure. A suitable BWP is a BWP with a low probability for LBT failure, such as a BWP having a load that is less than a threshold load. For example, whenever the UE has a RA procedure triggered, the UE selects the most suitable BWP based on load information, such as load measurements made by the UE for one or more available BWPs or load information communicated to the UE. The selected BWP for the RA procedure may be different from the UE's currently active BWP, and, in this case, the UE may do a BWP switch before the RA procedure.

Selon la revendication, la procédure d'accès aléatoire (RA) en NR-U peut être améliorée en permettant à l'UE doté d'une capacité de NR-U de choisir une BWP appropriée et d'utiliser cette BWP choisie pour réaliser la procédure de RA. Une BWP appropriée est une BWP présentant une faible probabilité d'échec de LBT, notamment une BWP dont la charge est inférieure à une charge seuil. Par exemple, chaque fois que l'UE rencontre le déclenchement d'une procédure de RA, l'UE sélectionne la BWP la plus appropriée d'après des informations de charge, telles que des mesures de charge effectuées par l'UE pour un ou plusieurs BWP disponibles ou des informations de charge communiquées à l'UE. La BWP sélectionnée pour la procédure de RA peut être différente de la BWP actuellement active de l'UE, et, dans ce cas, l'UE peut procéder à un changement de BWP avant la procédure de RA.
