A bi-directional clutch assembly includes an outer race defining first and second strut pockets, an inner race defining ratchet teeth, a passive one-way clutch including at least two passive struts each supported in a corresponding first strut pocket for pivotal movement relative to the ratchet teeth, passive strut springs for normally biasing the passive struts into engagement with the ratchet teeth on the inner race, and a selectable one-way clutch having at least one active strut supported in the second strut pocket for pivotal movement between a non-deployed position disengaged from the ratchet teeth and a deployed position engaged with the ratchet teeth, and an armature ring fixed for rotation with the outer race and axially moveable between a non-actuated position and an actuated position, in which a strut engagement feature moves the active strut from its non-deployed position to its deployed position.

La présente invention concerne un ensemble embrayage bidirectionnel comprenant une bague extérieure définissant des première et seconde poches d'entretoise, une bague intérieure définissant des dents de rochet, un embrayage unidirectionnel passif comprenant au moins deux entretoises passives supportées chacune dans une première poche d'entretoise correspondante pour un mouvement pivotant par rapport aux dents de rochet, des ressorts d'entretoise passives pour solliciter normalement les entretoises passives en prise avec les dents de rochet sur la bague intérieure, et un embrayage unidirectionnel sélectionnable ayant au moins une entretoise active supportée dans la seconde poche d'entretoise pour un mouvement pivotant entre une position non déployée désolidarisée des dents de rochet et une position déployée en prise avec les dents de rochet, et une bague d'armature fixée pour se mettre en rotation avec la bague extérieure et mobile axialement entre une position non actionnée et une position actionnée, dans laquelle un élément de mise en prise d'entretoise déplace l'entretoise active de sa position non déployée à sa position déployée.
