CLAIMS

What is claimed is:

1. An interactive user interface for a steering wheel comprising:

a user interface provided on at least one portion of the steering wheel, the user interface configured to recognize gesture movements made by a user, and wherein the user interface allows navigation of a set of controls associated with a menu provided through the user interface based on the gesture movements.

2. The interactive user interface of claim 1, wherein the user interface includes any one of a trackpad, a touch pad, or a set of buttons.

3. The interactive user interface of claim 1 , wherein the user interface is configured to provide a feedback of at least one of a selection or change in functionality selectable through the user interface.

4. The interactive user interface of claim 3, wherein the user interface is configured to provide a haptic feedback, such that an amplitude of the haptic feedback changes based on any one of an increase or decrease in functionality provided through the user interface.

The interactive user interface of claim 4, wherein the haptic feedback provided by the user interface includes a slide vibration, a hold vibration, a click, a release, a touch vibration, a gradual slide vibration, a scroll click, a scroll gradual click, a single vibration, a double vibration, or any combination thereof.

6. The interactive user interface of claim 1 further including a badge provided on a front face of the steering wheel, wherein the badge is capable of illumination indicative of selection of autopilot functionality.

7. The interactive user interface of claim 1 further including a plurality of visual indictors provided on the user interface configured to provide an indication of any one of a selection or a change in functionality.

8. The interactive user interface of claim 1, wherein the gesture movements performed on and recognized by the user interface include a swipe, double tap, hover, slide, click, hold click, multi-diagonal slide, or any combination thereof.

9. The interactive user interface of claim 1 further including a peripheral console provided in association with the steering wheel, wherein the console is positioned proximate to the steering wheel, such that the console is configured to provide a notification in a form of any one of a symbol or a color block based on the gesture movements provided on the user interface.

10. An interactive user interface for a steering wheel comprising:

a user interface provided on at least one portion of the steering wheel, wherein the user interface provides a feedback to a user through the user interface, the feedback indicative of at least one of a selection or change in functionality selectable through the user interface.

11. The interactive user interface of claim 10, wherein the user interface includes any one of a trackpad, a touch pad, or a set of buttons.

12. The interactive user interface of claim 10, wherein the user configured to recognize gesture movements made by the user, and wherein the user interface allows navigation of a set of controls associated with a menu provided through the user interface based on the gesture movements.

13. The interactive user interface of claim 12, wherein the gesture movements performed on and recognized by the user interface include a swipe, double tap, hover, slide, click, hold click, multi-diagonal slide, or any combination thereof.

14. The interactive user interface of claim 10, wherein the user interface is configured to provide a haptic feedback, such that an amplitude of the haptic feedback changes based on any one of an increase or decrease in the functionality provided through the user interface.

The interactive user interface of claim 14 wherein the haptic feedback provided by the user interface includes a slide vibration, a hold vibration, a click, a release, a touch vibration, a gradual slide vibration, a scroll click, a scroll gradual click, a single vibration, a double vibration, or any combination thereof.

16. The interactive user interface of claim 10 further including a badge provided on a front face of the steering wheel, wherein the badge is capable of illumination indicative of selection of autopilot functionality.

17. The interactive user interface of claim 10 further including a plurality of visual indictors provided on the user interface configured to provide an indication of any one of the selection or the change in functionality.

The interactive user interface of claim 10 further including a peripheral console provided in association with the steering wheel, wherein the console is positioned proximate to the steering wheel, such that the console is configured to provide a notification in a form of any one of a symbol or a color block based on the gesture movements provided on the user interface.

19. An interactive user interface for a steering wheel comprising:

a user interface provided on at least one portion of the steering wheel, the user interface configured to recognize gesture movements made by a user, allow navigation of a menu of controls through the gesture movements, and provide feedback to the user through the user interface based on selection of the controls.

The interactive user interface of claim 19 further including a peripheral console provided in association with the steering wheel, wherein the console is positioned proximate to the steering wheel, such that the console is configured to provide a notification in a form of any one of a symbol or a color block based on the gesture movements provided on the user interface.
