Abstract

The exhaust gas purification catalyst device has catalyst coating layers 10, 20, which extend from the upstream side to the downstream side of the exhaust gas flow. The catalyst coating layers 10, 20 have at least three zones present in sequence from the upstream side to the downstream side of the exhaust gas flow, and each of these at least three zones is an oxidation catalyst zone 1, 3, 5 or a reduction catalyst zone 2, 4, 6. In the uppermost layer of an oxidation catalyst zone, the total number of platinum and palladium atoms is greater than the number of rhodium atoms; in the uppermost layer of a reduction catalyst zone, the number of rhodium atoms is greater than the total number of platinum and palladium atoms. The oxidation catalyst zones 1, 3, 5 are switched with the reduction catalyst zones 2, 4, 6 at least two times in the exhaust gas flow direction.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de catalyseur de purification de gaz d'échappement comportant des couches 10, 20 de revêtement de catalyseur, qui s'étendent du côté amont au côté aval du flux de gaz d'échappement. Les couches 10, 20 de revêtement du catalyseur ont au moins trois zones présentes en séquence à partir du côté amont vers le côté aval du flux de gaz d'échappement, et chacune de ces trois zones au moins est une zone 1, 3, 5 du catalyseur d'oxydation ou une zone 2, 4, 6 du catalyseur de réduction. Dans la couche supérieure d'une zone de catalyseur d'oxydation, le nombre total d'atomes de platine et de palladium est supérieur au nombre d'atomes de rhodium ; dans la couche supérieure d'une zone de catalyseur de réduction, le nombre d'atomes de rhodium est supérieur au nombre total d'atomes de platine et de palladium. Les zones 1, 3, 5 du catalyseur d'oxydation sont en commutation avec les zones 2, 4, 6 du catalyseur de réduction au moins deux fois dans la direction d'écoulement du gaz d'échappement.
