Device (12) for controlling a camshaft phaser (13), comprising: - a hydraulic element (16) which comprises a body (28), a tray assembly (30) having a tray member (36) and a valve assembly (34) comprising a first valve (70), a second valve (71) and a third valve (73) and; - an actuator (14) which can move along a longitudinal axis (X) between: - a first position in which the first valve (70) opens or closes a first fluid communication (F1) and, - a second position in which the second valve (71) and the tray member (36) open or close a second fluid communication (F2) and, - a third position in which the third valve (73) and the tray member (36) open or close a third fluid communication (F3) between a delay port (48) and a delay chamber.
