Abstract

Compositions and methods are provided for lamellar and defect reconstruction of corneal stromal tissue using biomaterials that form a defined gel structure in situ. Such gels can serve as cellular or acellular lamellar substitutes to reconstruct corneal stroma, facilitate matrix remodeling, and support multilayered re-epithelialization of wounded corneal stromal tissue, as well delivery vehicles for cells, biomolecules, and/or pharmaceutical agents to wound sites throughout the body.

L'invention concerne des compositions et des procédés pour la reconstruction lamellaire et de défauts de tissu stromal cornéen à l'aide de biomatériaux qui forment une structure de gel définie in situ. De tels gels peuvent servir de substituts lamellaires cellulaires ou acellulaires pour reconstruire le stroma cornéen, permettre un remodelage de matrice, et permettre une ré-épithélialisation multicouche de tissu stromal cornéen lésé, ainsi que des véhicules d'administration de cellules, de biomolécules et/ou d'agents pharmaceutiques sur des sites de plaie à travers le corps.
