Abstract

A method to determine the weight percent of an "amorphous" fraction in an olefin-based polymer composition, comprising one or more olefin-based polymers; said method comprising the following steps: a) dissolving the olefin-based polymer composition in an organic solvent to form a polymer solution; b) injecting at least a portion of the polymer solution onto a support material, and wherein the support material has a Co-crystallization Index (CI) value from 0.70 to 1.20; c) cooling the support material at a rate greater than, or equal to, 0.2C/min; d) increasing the temperature of the support material to elute the polymers of the olefin-based polymer composition; e) generating a chromatogram; f) determining the peak area of the first elution from its lower integration limit to its upper integration limit; g) calculating the "amorphous" fraction" based on the following Equation A below: wt% "amorphous" fraction = PAamorphous/PAtotalx100 (Eqn. A); wherein PAamorp = peak area of the first elution, and PAtotal#191 = total peak area of the polymers of the olefin-based polymer composition.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour déterminer le pourcentage en poids d'une fraction "amorphe" dans une composition de polymère à base d'oléfines, comprenant un ou plusieurs polymères à base d'oléfines; ledit procédé comprend les étapes suivantes: a) dissoudre la composition de polymère à base d'oléfines dans un solvant organique pour former une solution de polymère; b) injecter au moins une partie de la solution de polymère sur un matériau de support, le matériau de support ayant une valeur d'indice de co-cristallisation (CI) de 0,70 à 1,20; c) refroidir le matériau de support à une vitesse supérieure ou égale à 0.2C/min; d) augmenter la température du matériau de support pour éluer les polymères de la composition de polymère à base d'oléfines; e) générer un chromatogramme; f) déterminer la zone de pic de la première élution à partir de sa limite d'intégration inférieure par rapport à sa limite d'intégration supérieure; g) calculer la fraction "amorphe" sur la base de l'équation A suivante: wt% "amorphous" fraction = PAamorphous/PAtotalx100 (Eqn. A); dans laquelle PAamorp =zone de pic de la première élution, et PAtotal#191 = zone de pic totale des polymères de la composition de polymère à base d'oléfines.
