Described herein are heterogeneous materials comprising a mixture of a first n-type semiconductor and a second n-type semiconductor. The first n-type semiconductor may be a single or plural phase TiO2 material. The second n-type semiconductor includes a metal titanate and/or a noble metal. Upon activation with ultraviolet light, the photocatalytic material mixtures described herein efficiently decompose volatile chemical compounds. Furthermore, the photocatalytic materials disclosed herein are observably more stable, relative to known semiconductor materials, to inactivation by deposition.

L'invention concerne des matériaux hétérogènes comprenant un mélange d'un premier semi-conducteur de type n et d'un second semi-conducteur de type n. Le premier semi-conducteur de type n peut être un matériau TiO2 à une ou plusieurs phases. Le second semi-conducteur de type n comprend un titanate métallique et/ou un métal noble. Lors de l'activation par lumière ultraviolette, des mélanges de matériaux photocatalytiques décrits dans la présente invention décomposent de manière efficace des composés chimiques volatils. En outre, les matériaux photocatalytiques selon l'invention sont visiblement plus stables, par rapport aux matériaux semi-conducteurs connus, à l'inactivation par dépôt.
