A method of producing a shim for use in an aircraft airframe (200) comprising: providing a plurality of component parts (202, 204) of the aircraft airframe (200); measuring a surface of each of the component parts (202, 204) and creating a digital models of the component part (202, 204) therefrom; digitally assembling together the digital models of the component parts (202, 204) thereby to produce a digital model (600) of at least part of the aircraft airframe (200); using that digital model (600), creating a digital model of a shim (604), the digital model of the shim (604) filling a gap between at least two digital models of component parts (202, 204) in the digital model (600) of at least part of the aircraft airframe (200); and producing a physical shim using the digital model of the shim (604).

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'une cale destinée à être utilisée dans une cellule d'aéronef (200) qui comprend : la fourniture d'une pluralité de parties de composant (202, 204) de la cellule d'aéronef (200) ; la mesure d'une surface de chaque partie de composant (202, 204) et la création de modèles numériques de la partie de composant (202, 204) à partir de celle-ci ; l'assemblage numérique des modèles numériques des parties de composant (202, 204) pour produire ainsi un modèle numérique (600) d'au moins une partie de la cellule d'aéronef (200) ; l'utilisation de ce modèle numérique (600), pour créer un modèle numérique d'une cale (604), le modèle numérique de la cale (604) remplissant un espace entre au moins deux modèles numériques de parties de composant (202, 204) dans le modèle numérique (600) d'au moins une partie de la cellule d'aéronef (200) ; et la production d'une cale physique à l'aide du modèle numérique de la cale (604).
