A process for the amination of alcohols by reacting the alcohol with ammonia or an ammonia precursor in the presence of hydrogen, wherein a core-shell catalyst is used comprising at least one metal selected from the group consisting of magnesium, zinc, nickel, copper or cobalt and obtained from a layered double hydroxide of these metals as a shell, and a molecular sieve as a core, wherein the reaction temperature is in the range from 20 to 250°C and the molar ratio of ammonia to hydroxyl groups in the alcohol is at least 5.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'amination d'alcools par réaction de l'alcool avec de l'ammoniac ou un précurseur d'ammoniac en présence d'hydrogène, un catalyseur noyau-enveloppe étant utilisé comprenant au moins un métal choisi dans le groupe constitué par le magnésium, le zinc, le nickel, le cuivre ou le cobalt et obtenu à partir d'un hydroxyde double en couches de ces métaux en tant qu'enveloppe, et un tamis moléculaire en tant que noyau, la température de réaction étant dans la plage de 20 à 250 °C et le rapport molaire entre l'ammoniac et les groupes hydroxyle dans l'alcool étant d'au moins 5.
