Abstract
(EN) The invention relates to a tool blank (1) for a drill, the tool blank being substantially cylindrical and having a front end (2), a rear end (3) and a central longitudinal axis (L) extending therebetween. The tool blank comprises at least one vein (4) of a superhard material formed at the front end, wherein the vein has a depth (D) in the axial direction and comprises a bottom surface (12), a first side surface (13) and a second side surface (14). Each vein has an extension in an inward direction from the periphery of the tool blank. For each vein, the first side surface forms an inclination angle (α) with respect to the longitudinal axis that varies with the radial distance to the longitudinal axis of the tool blank over at least a major part of the extension of the vein. The inclination angle substantially corresponds to a desired axial rake angle of a drill (5) to be manufactured from the tool blank. The invention also relates to a drill manufactured from such tool blank, and a method for manufacturing a drill.
(FR) L'invention concerne une ébauche d'outil (1) pour une mèche, laquelle ébauche d'outil est sensiblement cylindrique et a une extrémité avant (2), une extrémité arrière (3) et un axe longitudinal central (L) s'étendant entre celles-ci. L'ébauche d'outil comprend au moins une nervure (4) d'un matériau super-dur formée à l'extrémité avant, la rainure ayant une profondeur (D) dans la direction axiale et comprenant une surface inférieure (12), une première surface latérale (13) et une seconde surface latérale (14). Chaque rainure a une extension dans une direction vers l'intérieur à partir de la périphérie de l'ébauche d'outil. Pour chaque rainure, la première surface latérale forme un angle d'inclinaison (α) par rapport à l'axe longitudinal qui varie avec la distance radiale par rapport à l'axe longitudinal de l'ébauche d'outil sur au moins une majeure partie de l'extension de la rainure. L'angle d'inclinaison correspond sensiblement à un angle de coupe axial souhaité d'une mèche (5) devant être fabriquée à partir de l'ébauche d'outil. L'invention concerne également une mèche fabriquée à partir d'une telle ébauche d'outil, et un procédé pour fabriquer une mèche.
