Abstract

A system for quantifying the presence of at least one chemical and/or a physical condition in ocular tissues is provided. The system uses a membrane having at least one photo-reactive chemical- and/or physical condition-sensing indicator dye and a photo- reactive reference dye wherein both the photo-reactive chemical- and/or physical condition-sensing indicator dye and the photo-reactive reference dye are responsive to the same wavelength of an excitation light source but emit different wavelengths of light in a light spectrum. An optical data detector receives the emitted light and a processor splits the data into two or more colours of the light spectrum and measures the intensity of the two or more colours. The colour intensity belonging to the emitted light from the chemical- and/or physical condition-sensing indicator dye is compared to the colour intensity of the light emitted from the reference dye and the amount of chemical present and/or the extent of physical condition is ratiometrically determined therefrom.

L'invention concerne un système permettant de quantifier la présence d'au moins un produit chimique et/ou d'une condition physique dans des tissus oculaires. Le système utilise une membrane ayant au moins un colorant indicateur de détection de produit chimique et/ou condition physique photo-réactif et un colorant de référence photo-réactif, le colorant indicateur de détection de produit chimique et/ou condition physique photo-réactif et le colorant de référence photo-réactif étant sensibles à la même longueur d'onde d'une source de lumière d'excitation mais émettant différentes longueurs d'onde de lumière dans un spectre de lumière. Un détecteur de données optique reçoit la lumière émise et un processeur divise les données en deux couleurs ou plus du spectre de lumière et mesure l'intensité des deux couleurs ou plus. L'intensité de couleur appartenant à la lumière émise par le colorant indicateur de détection de produit chimique et/ou condition physique est comparée à l'intensité de couleur de la lumière émise par le colorant de référence et la quantité de produit chimique présent et/ou l'étendue de condition physique est déterminée de manière ratiométrique à partir de celle-ci.
