Abstract:
(EN) A drill bit for removing subterranean formation material in a borehole comprises a bit body comprising a longitudinal axis, a plurality of blades extending radially outward from the longitudinal axis along a face region of the bit body and extending axially along a gauge region of the bit body, and an insert coupled to at least one blade in the gauge region. The insert comprises an elongated body having an upper surface, a lower surface, and a longitudinal axis extending centrally therethrough and intersecting the upper and lower surfaces. The upper surface comprises a bearing surface for supporting for the drill bit and providing a surface on which the subterranean formation being drilled rubs against the insert without exceeding the compressive strength of the selected formation. The insert is coupled to the blade such that the upper surface thereof extends radially beyond an outer surface of the blade and the lower surface thereof extends radially below the outer surface of the blade.
(FR) L'invention concerne un trépan permettant de retirer un matériau de formation souterraine dans un trou de forage, comprenant un corps de trépan comprenant un axe longitudinal, une pluralité de lames s'étendant radialement vers l'extérieur à partir de l'axe longitudinal le long d'une région de face du corps de trépan et s'étendant axialement le long d'une région de jauge du corps de trépan, et un insert accouplé à au moins une lame dans la région de jauge. L'insert comprend un corps allongé ayant une surface supérieure et une surface inférieure, et est traversé par un axe longitudinal s'étendant vers le centre et croisant les surfaces supérieure et inférieure. La surface supérieure comprend une surface de support permettant de porter le trépan et de procurer une surface sur laquelle la formation souterraine en cours de forage frotte contre l'insert sans dépasser la résistance à la compression de la formation sélectionnée. L'insert est accouplé à la lame de telle sorte que sa surface supérieure s'étend radialement au-delà d'une surface externe de la lame et que sa surface inférieure s'étend radialement au-dessous de la surface externe de la lame.
