Abstract:
(EN) The present disclosure provides microstructured hydrophobic surfaces and devices for gripping wet deformable surfaces. The surfaces and devices disclosed herein utilize a split contact Wenzel-Cassie mechanism to develop multi-level Wenzel-Cassie structures. The Wenzel-Cassie structures are separated with a spatial period corresponding to at least one wrinkle eigenmode of a wet deformable surface to which the microstructure or device is designed to contact, allowing grip of the deformable surface without slippage. Microstructures of the present invention are specifically designed to prevent the formation of Shallamach waves when a shear force is applied to a deformable surface. The multi-level Wenzel-Cassie states of the present disclosure develop temporally, and accordingly are characterized by hierarchical fluid pinning, both in the instance of slippage, and more importantly in the instance of localization.
(FR) La présente invention concerne des surfaces hydrophobes microstructurées et des dispositifs pour saisir des surfaces déformables humides. Les surfaces et les dispositifs de la présente invention utilisent un mécanisme Wenzel-Cassie à contact divisé pour développer des structures Wenzel-Cassie à plusieurs niveaux. Les structures Wenzel-Cassie sont séparées d'une période spatiale correspondant à au moins un mode propre des plis d'une surface déformable humide sur laquelle la microstructure ou le dispositif est conçu pour entrer en contact, ce qui permet de saisir la surface déformable sans glissement. Les microstructures de la présente invention sont spécifiquement conçues pour empêcher la formation d'ondes de Shallamach lorsqu'une force de cisaillement est appliquée sur une surface déformable. Les états de Wenzel-Cassie à plusieurs niveaux de la présente invention se développent de manière temporelle, et sont par conséquent caractérisés par un ancrage fluide hiérarchique, non seulement en cas de glissement, mais aussi et surtout, en cas de localisation.
