Abstract:
(EN) An approach to localizing a mobile device takes advantage of the device reporting the order of its neighboring base stations (BSs) according to the received power of the pilot signals. Based on the received BS order, the agent is located within the intersection of corresponding higher-order Voronoi cells. Assuming that the BSs are deployed according to a Poisson point process (PPP) and that signals are subject to log-normal shadowing, the tradeoff between the ALR and the localization error probability can be characterized. It is shown that increasing the number of reported BSs generally reduces the ALR and improves the localization accuracy at the expense of increasing the localization error.
(FR) L'invention concerne une approche pour localiser un dispositif mobile qui tire profit du dispositif rapportant l'ordre de ses stations de base (BS) voisines en fonction de la puissance reçue des signaux pilotes. Sur la base de l'ordre de BS reçu, l'agent est localisé à l'intérieur de l'intersection de cellules de Voronoï d'ordre supérieur correspondantes. En supposant que les BS sont déployées selon un processus de point de Poisson (PPP) et que les signaux sont soumis à un ombrage log-normal, le compromis entre l'ALR et la probabilité d'erreur de localisation peut être caractérisé. Il est démontré que l'augmentation du nombre de BS rapportées réduit généralement l'ALR et améliore la précision de localisation au détriment de l'augmentation de l'erreur de localisation.
