Abstract:
(EN) An apparatus (10) for reducing fiber whip damage to optical fiber (42) wound on a fiber winding spool (40) is provided. The apparatus (10) includes a fiber entry feed mechanism (50) operatively coupled to the fiber winding spool (40) to feed the optical fiber (42) onto the fiber winding spool (40). The apparatus (10) also includes a whip shield (22) arranged to substantially surround the fiber winding spool (40). The whip shield (22) includes a first surface (26) aligned with and facing the fiber winding spool (40) within an entry slot (24) that is laterally offset from a second surface (28). The first surface (26) transitions to the second surface (28) such that a loose end of the optical fiber is initially directed into the entry slot (24) away from the fiber winding spool (40) and transitions to the second surface (28).
(FR) L'invention concerne un appareil (10) de réduction de dommages par fouettement sur une fibre optique (42) enroulée sur une bobine d'enroulement de fibre (40). L'appareil (10) comprend un mécanisme d'alimentation de fibre (50) couplé de manière fonctionnelle à la bobine d'enroulement de fibre (40) pour alimenter la fibre optique (42) sur la bobine d'enroulement de fibre (40). L'appareil (10) comprend également un écran pare-fouet (22) agencé de manière à entourer sensiblement la bobine d'enroulement de fibre (40).
