Abstract:
(EN) A container includes a composite material including a polycarbonate substrate and at least one SiOx layer deposited onto the polycarbonate substrate at an interior surface of the container. The composite material: has an oxygen transmission rate of between about 10-6 cm3/m2⋅day⋅bar and about 1 cm3/m2⋅day⋅bar when measured in accordance with ISO 15105- 2; exhibits a barrier improvement factor of greater than 1000 when compared to a substantially similar polycarbonate substrate that does not include the SiOx layer; exhibits a transmission of greater than about 88 % at a 2.5 mm film thickness; exhibits chemical resistance to organic solvents; and/or has a surface roughness of less than about 2 nm. The container may have good bisphenol-A migration properties. The container is suitable for use in cosmetic, pharmaceutical or food storage applications.
(FR) Un contenant selon l'invention comprend un matériau composite comprenant un substrat de polycarbonate et au moins une couche de SiOx déposée sur le substrat de polycarbonate au niveau d'une surface intérieure du contenant. Le matériau composite présente : un taux de transmission de l'oxygène entre environ 10-6 cm3/m2⋅jour⋅bar et environ 1 cm3/m2⋅jour⋅bar, ainsi que mesuré selon l'ISO 15105-2 ; un facteur d'amélioration de barrière supérieur à 1000 par rapport à un substrat de polycarbonate sensiblement identique dépourvu de la couche de SiOx ; une transmission supérieure à environ 88 % avec une épaisseur de film de 2,5 mm ; une résistance chimique aux solvants organiques ; et/ou une rugosité de surface inférieure à environ 2 nm. Le contenant peut avoir de bonnes propriétés de migration du bisphénol-A. Le contenant est approprié pour être utilisé dans des applications cosmétiques, pharmaceutiques ou de stockage d'aliments.
