Abstract:
(EN) A sensor for detecting and measuring a gas in a gaseous environment where the gaseous environment conations an interferent such as a related gas. A vertical chemiresistor with a top gate includes a semiconductor layer that has a bulk resistivity that changes in the presence of the gas and/or the interferent. The electrodes (103, 107) of the vertical chemiresistor have a work function that changes when the gas is absorbed onto the electrode. This absorption changes the work function of the electrode and thereby the contact resistance of the electrode in the vertical chemiresistor. By detecting changes in the contact resistance and the bulk resistivity of the semiconducting layer (105) the presence and the concentration of the gas may be determined and distinguished from the interferent.
(FR) L'invention concerne un capteur permettant de détecter et de mesurer un gaz dans un environnement gazeux, l'environnement gazeux contenant un interférent tel qu'un gaz associé. L'invention porte sur une chimiorésistance verticale dotée d'une grille supérieure qui comprend une couche semi-conductrice présentant une résistivité volumique qui varie en présence du gaz et/ou de l'interférent. Les électrodes (103, 107) de la chimiorésistance verticale disposent d'une fonction de travail qui change lorsque le gaz est absorbé sur l'électrode. Cette absorption modifie la fonction de travail de l'électrode et ainsi la résistance de contact de l'électrode dans la chimiorésistance verticale. En détectant des variations de la résistance de contact et de la résistivité volumique de la couche semi-conductrice (105), la présence et la concentration du gaz peuvent être déterminées et distinguées de l'interférence.
