Abstract

An epoxy oligomerization catalyst can be employed to prepare an epoxy resin employing a method including admixing a first epoxy resin having a first epoxy equivalent weight of from about 100 to about 600 with a diphenolic compound, and a catalyst, thereby forming a second epoxy resin having a second epoxy equivalent weight of from about 200 to about 10,000; wherein the catalyst is a guanidinium catalyst. The second equivalent weight is greater than the first equivalent weight.

Selon l'invention, un catalyseur d'oligomérisation époxy peut être employé pour préparer une résine époxy à l'aide d'un procédé comprenant le mélange d'une première résine époxy présentant un premier poids équivalent époxy d'environ 100 à environ 600 avec un composé diphénolique et un catalyseur, formant ainsi une deuxième résine époxy présentant un deuxième poids équivalent d'époxy d'environ 200 à environ 10 000; le catalyseur étant un catalyseur à base de guanidinium. Le deuxième poids équivalent est supérieur au premier poids équivalent.
