A light-emitting device (10) comprises a substrate (100), a light-emitting unit (142), an enclosing wall (160), a first inorganic layer (210), and a coating film (220). The light-emitting unit (142) is positioned on a first-surface (102) side of the substrate (100). The light-emitting unit (142) includes a first electrode (110), an organic layer (120), and a second electrode (130), these elements being laminated. The enclosing wall (160) is set apart from the light-emitting unit (142), and is positioned between an end part of the substrate (100) and the light-emitting unit (142). The first inorganic layer (210) continuously covers the light-emitting unit (142) and the enclosing wall (160). The coating film (220) is positioned on the reverse side of the first inorganic layer (210) from the substrate (100).
