Abstract

The present invention provides a method of production of a barley plant producing at least one antimicrobial peptide, comprising the step of insertion of a nucleotide sequence containing - a sequence encoding an N-terminal signal peptide from a plant other than barley for translocation of a peptide through endoplasmatic reticulum, and - a sequence encoding at least one antimicrobial peptide selected from a group consisting of cathelicidins, defensins and magainins, into the genome of the barley plant. The invention further provides a suitable expression cassette, the resulting barley plant, and a method pro production of antimicrobial peptides using said barley plants.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de production d'une plante d'orge produisant au moins un peptide antimicrobien, comprenant l'étape d'insertion, dans le génome de la plante d'orge, d'une séquence nucléotidique contenant – une séquence codant pour un peptide signal N-terminal provenant d'une plante autre que l'orge en vue de la translocation d'un peptide à travers le réticulum endoplasmique, et – une séquence codant pour au moins un peptide antimicrobien choisi dans le groupe constitué par les cathélicidines, les défensines et les magaïnines. L'invention concerne en outre une cassette d'expression appropriée, la plante d'orge obtenue, et un procédé de production de peptides antimicrobiens faisant intervenir lesdites plantes d'orge.
