Abstract:
(EN) Methods, systems, and compositions for maintaining functioning drainage blebs to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) of an eye being treated for glaucoma. The methods, systems, and compositions feature the combination of a minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) implant or procedure and the application of beta radiation to the bleb. The beta radiation can function to inhibit or reduce the inflammation and/or fibrogenesis that typically occurs after insertion of a MIGS implant and leads to bleb failure. By reducing inflammation and/or fibrogenesis, the MIGS implant and the blebs can remain functioning appropriately.
(FR) L'invention concerne des procédés, des systèmes et des compositions permettant de maintenir le fonctionnement de fistules de drainage afin de réduire la pression intraoculaire (PIO) d'un œil traité pour le glaucome. Les procédés, les systèmes et les compositions comprennent la combinaison d'un implant ou d'une intervention en chirurgie mini-invasive du glaucome (MIGS) et de l'application d'un rayonnement bêta à la fistule. Le rayonnement bêta peut servir à inhiber ou à réduire l'inflammation et/ou la fibrogenèse qui se produit généralement après l'insertion d'un implant MIGS et conduit à une défaillance de la fistule. La réduction de l'inflammation et/ou de la fibrogenèse permet à l'implant MIGS et aux fistules de continuer à fonctionner de manière appropriée.
