Abstract:
(EN) Alkyd resins are made with up to 50% lactide and a fatty acid or fatty acid precursor. The lactide is a mixture of meso-lactide with one or both of L- and D-lactides. The alkyd resins have excellent adhesion, impact resistance and abrasion resistance when cured. In addition, the alkyd resins, and lacquers and coating compositions made from them, have low viscosities. This allows for higher solids contents at equivalent viscosities, which in turn reduces volatile organic compounds.
(FR) L'invention concerne des résines alkydes qui sont produites avec jusqu'à 50 % de lactide et un acide gras ou un précurseur d'acide gras. Le lactide est un mélange de méso-lactide avec du L-lactide ou du D-lactide ou les deux. Les résines alkydes présentent une excellente adhérence, une excellente résistance aux chocs et une excellente résistance à l'abrasion lorsqu'elles sont durcies. De plus, les résines alkydes, et les laques et les compositions de revêtement préparées à partir de celles-ci, ont de faibles viscosités. Ceci permet d'obtenir des teneurs en solides plus élevées à des viscosités équivalentes, ce qui réduit les composés organiques volatils.
