Abstract:
(EN) Security is provided for enterprise local area networks (LANs) by pre-vetting and identifying the security characteristic and actions of any new wireless networks that tries to connect to a secure LAN network. The disclosure herein provides for identification and classification of IEEE 802.11 wireless networks by using monitoring sensor system within and managed by a centralized cloud. The monitoring sensors interrogate the network mimicking the behavior of known platforms, such as an end-user's workstation or mobile device followed by random actions simulating a human person. The response characteristics of the wireless network including the behavior patterns relating to the LAN system and human behavior are collected. The security system uses methods of classification provided through analysis of the collected information using methods including data science approaches, correlation analysis, and machine learning classification methods to determine the security classification of the newly detected wireless network.
(FR) La sécurité est assurée pour des réseaux locaux d'entreprise (LAN) par pré-vettage et identification de la caractéristique de sécurité et des actions de n'importe quel nouveau réseau sans fil qui essaie de se connecter à un réseau LAN sécurisé. L'invention concerne l'identification et la classification de réseaux sans fil IEEE 802.11 à l'aide d'un système de capteurs de surveillance se trouvant dans un nuage centralisé et géré par celui-ci. Les capteurs de surveillance interrogent le réseau imitant le comportement de plateformes connues, telles qu'un poste de travail d'utilisateur final ou un dispositif mobile suivi d'actions aléatoires simulant une personne humaine. Les caractéristiques de réponse du réseau sans fil comprenant les motifs de comportement concernant le système LAN et le comportement humain sont collectées. Le système de sécurité utilise des procédés de classification fournis par l'analyse des informations collectées à l'aide de procédés comprenant des approches de science de données, une analyse de corrélation et des procédés de classification d'apprentissage automatique pour déterminer la classification de sécurité du réseau sans fil nouvellement détecté.
