Abstract:
(EN) There is provided a holographic projector comprising a reflective liquid crystal display device. The reflective liquid crystal display device comprises a light-modulating layer between a first substrate and a second substrate substantially parallel to the first substrate. The light-modulating layer comprises planar-aligned nematic liquid crystals having positive dielectric anisotropy. The first substrate is substantially transparent and comprises a first alignment layer arranged to impart a first pre-tilt angle θι on liquid crystals proximate the first substrate, wherein θ1 > 5°. The second substrate is substantially reflective and comprises a second alignment layer arranged to impart a second pre-tilt angle Θ2 on liquid crystals proximate the second substrate, wherein θ2 > 5°. The reflective liquid crystal display device further comprises a plurality of pixels defined on the light-modulating layer having a pixel repeat distance x, wherein x ≤ 10 μm. The distance d between inside faces of the first substrate and second substrate satisfies 0.5 μm ≤ d ≤ 3 μm, and the birefringence of the liquid crystal Δη ≥ 0.20. The holographic projector further comprises a display driver arranged to drive the reflective liquid crystal display device to display a hologram by independently-driving each pixel at a respective modulation level selected from a plurality of modulation levels having a phase modulation value.
(FR) L'invention concerne un projecteur holographique comprenant un dispositif d'affichage à cristaux liquides réfléchissant. Le dispositif d'affichage à cristaux liquides réfléchissant comprend une couche de modulation de lumière entre un premier substrat et un second substrat sensiblement parallèle au premier substrat. La couche de modulation de lumière comprend des cristaux liquides nématiques à alignement plan présentant une anisotropie diélectrique positive. Le premier substrat est sensiblement transparent et comprend une première couche d'alignement conçue pour imprimer un premier angle de pré-inclinaison θι sur des cristaux liquides à proximité du premier substrat, dans lequel θ1 > 5°. Le second substrat est sensiblement réfléchissant et comprend une seconde couche d'alignement conçue pour imprimer un second angle de pré-inclinaison Θ2 sur des cristaux liquides à proximité du second substrat, dans lequel θ2 > 5°. Le dispositif d'affichage à cristaux liquides réfléchissant comprend en outre une pluralité de pixels définis sur la couche de modulation de lumière ayant une distance de répétition de pixel x, où x ≤ 10 μm. La distance d entre les faces intérieures du premier substrat et du second substrat satisfait à 0,5 μm ≤ d ≤ 3 μm, et la biréfringence du cristal liquide Δη ≥ 0,20. Le projecteur holographique comprend en outre un pilote d'affichage conçu pour attaquer le dispositif d'affichage à cristaux liquides réfléchissant pour afficher un hologramme en attaquant indépendant chaque pixel à un niveau de modulation respectif choisi parmi de multiples niveaux de modulation ayant une valeur de modulation de phase.
