Abstract:
(EN) Processes, systems and microorganisms are described herein for producing glycolate from ethylene glycol. The processes generally comprise supplying a fermentation broth into a fermentation vessel, wherein the fermentation broth comprises ethylene glycol and a microorganism having a functional metabolic pathway for utilizing ethylene glycol as a carbon source. In a growth phase, an oxygen-containing gas is injected into the fermentation broth to provide oxygen bio-availability conditions to promote cell growth of the microorganism and limit accumulation of glycolate in the fermentation broth. In a production phase, an oxygen-containing gas is injected into the fermentation broth to provide oxygen bio-availability conditions to promote production of glycolate from ethylene glycol by the microorganism and accumulation of the glycolate in the fermentation broth, to produce a glycolate enriched broth.
(FR) L'invention concerne des procédés, des systèmes et des microorganismes pour la production de glycolate à partir d'éthylène glycol. Les procédés comprennent généralement l'introduction d'un bouillon de fermentation dans une cuve de fermentation, le bouillon de fermentation comprenant de l'éthylène glycol et un micro-organisme ayant une voie métabolique fonctionnelle pour utiliser l'éthylène glycol en tant que source de carbone. Pendant une phase de croissance, un gaz contenant de l'oxygène est injecté dans le bouillon de fermentation pour fournir des conditions de bio-disponibilité d'oxygène pour favoriser la croissance cellulaire du micro-organisme et limiter l'accumulation de glycolate dans le bouillon de fermentation.
