Abstract:
(EN) The invention relates to a sensing device for quantitatively measuring a concentration of an analyte. The device comprises a hydrophilic substrate having a surface that is partially impregnated with a hydrophobic material, a non- impregnated portion of the first surface defining at least one reaction zone. An enzyme is located in the reaction zone for converting the analyte into at least a charged species. The sensing device also comprises a pair of electrode spaced apart and in contact with the reaction zone for conducting a current generated by diffusion of the charged species so as to quantitatively measure the concentration of the analyte. In a preferred embodiment the hydrophilic substrate is paper, the hydrophobic material is wax and the enzyme is urease.
(FR) L'invention concerne un dispositif de détection pour la mesure quantitative de la concentration d'un analyte. Le dispositif comprend un substrat hydrophile ayant une surface qui est partiellement imprégnée d'une substance hydrophobe, où une partie non imprégnée de la première surface définit au moins une zone de réaction. Une enzyme est placée dans la zone de réaction pour convertir l'analyte en au moins une espèce chargée. Le dispositif de détection comprend également une paire d'électrodes espacées et en contact avec la zone de réaction pour conduire un courant généré par diffusion de l'espèce chargée de façon à mesurer quantitativement la concentration de l'analyte. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, le substrat hydrophile est le papier, la substance hydrophobe est la cire et l'enzyme est l'uréase.
