Abstract:
(EN) A system and method identifies blast exposure by the use of magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to measure absolute and relative concentrations of metabolites in specific brain regions in the central nervous system or brain. The system and method can be used as a diagnostic tool for the assessment of blast exposure. These chemical changes in the brain of those people suffering from blast exposure are different from those suffering from head injury, chronic pain and other neurological conditions.
(FR) Un système et un procédé identifient une exposition au souffle par l'utilisation d'une spectroscopie par résonance magnétique (SRM) pour mesurer des concentrations absolues et relatives de métabolites dans des régions cérébrales spécifiques dans le système nerveux central ou le cerveau. Le système et le procédé peuvent être utilisés en tant qu'outil de diagnostic pour l'évaluation de l'exposition au souffle. Les changements chimiques dans le cerveau de ces personnes souffrant d'une exposition au souffle sont différents de ceux souffrant d'une lésion de la tête, d'une douleur chronique et d'autres affections neurologiques.
