Abstract:
(EN) The present invention relates to thermally expandable microspheres at least partially prepared from bio-based monomers and to a process of their manufacture. The microspheres comprise a thermoplastic polymer shell encapsulating a blowing agent, wherein the thermoplastic polymer shell comprises a polymer being a homo-or copolymer of a lactone according to formula (1): wherein each of R1, R2, R3, R4, separately from one another, is selected from the group consisting of H and an alkyl group preferably with 1-4 carbon atoms. The invention further provides expanded microspheres, which can be used in a variety of applications.
(FR) La présente invention concerne des microsphères thermo-expansibles au moins partiellement préparées à partir de monomères d'origine biologique et un processus de fabrication de celles-ci. Les microsphères comprennent une enveloppe polymère thermoplastique encapsulant un agent gonflant, la coque polymère thermoplastique comprenant un polymère qui est un homopolymère ou un copolymère d'une lactone selon la formule (1) : dans laquelle chacun de R1, R2, R3, R4, indépendamment l'un de l'autre, est choisi dans le groupe constitué par H et un groupe alkyle de préférence avec 1 à 4 atomes de carbone. L'invention concerne en outre des microsphères expansées, qui peuvent être utilisées dans une variété d'applications.
