CLAIMS

1 . Brush (1 ) designed for applying a cosmetic composition, particularly a powdered cosmetic composition, comprising:

- a handle (2) extending along a first longitudinal axis (X);

- an application part (3) attached to one end of the handle (2) and comprising a tuft of bristles (4) extending along a second longitudinal axis (Χ') between a first end (41 ) secured to the handle (2) and a free second end (42) defining an application surface (43),

characterized in that it further comprises a bristle-tuft (4) shaping device (5) comprising a shape-memory deformable element (50) arranged in a way that is axially fixed along the second longitudinal axis (Χ'), surrounding the said tuft of bristles (4) in such a way that the cross section of the said tuft of bristles (4) adopts a shape corresponding to the cross-sectional shape of the deformable element (50).

2. Brush (1 ) according to Claim 1 , in which the first longitudinal axis (X) and the second longitudinal axis (Χ') are coincident.

3. Brush (1 ) according to either one of Claims 1 and 2, in which the deformable element (50) takes the form of a ring extending around the second longitudinal axis (Χ').

4. Brush (1 ) according to any one of Claims 1 to 3, in which the deformable element (50) is made from a malleable metallic material.

5. Brush (1 ) according to any one of Claims 1 to 4, in which the shaping device (5) further comprises a bushing (51 ) extending around the second longitudinal axis (Χ') and preferably made from an elastically deformable material.

6. Brush (1 ) according to Claim 5, in which the bushing (51 ) is overmoulded on the deformable element (50).

7. Brush (1 ) according to either one of Claims 5 and 6, in which the deformable element (50) is embedded inside the bushing (51 ).

8. Brush (1 ) according to any one of Clainns 1 to 7, in which the tuft of bristles (4) comprises successively:

- an attachment portion (44) for attachment to the handle (2);

- a shaping portion (45) around which the shaping device (5) extends, and;

- a free application portion (46), which preferably flares outwards in the radial direction.

9. Brush (1 ) according to any one of Claims 1 to 8, in which the application surface (43) of the tuft of bristles (4) is planar, and possibly chamfered, and/or domed outwards and/or comprises hollows or cavities.

10. Method for applying makeup to the face by means of a brush (1 ) according to any one of Claims 1 to 9, in which the following steps are performed:

- deforming the deformable element (50) of the brush (1 ) in order to cause the tuft of bristles (4) to adopt a given cross-sectional shape, and;

- applying a cosmetic product using the application surface (43) of the tuft of bristles (4) in the cross-sectional shape it has been given.
