The invention relates to a housing (11) comprising a pressure compensation element (1). The pressure compensation element (1) comprises a membrane layer (9) which is permeable to gases and impermeable to liquids at least from the housing exterior (15) to the housing interior (17). The invention is characterized in that the pressure compensation element (1) additionally comprises an additional metal layer (7).
