Abstract:
(EN) Understanding the performance of a Service Function Chain (SFC) and how Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) contribute to the performance of the SFC can assist in the maintenance of services and quality of experience the VNFs are expected to provide. In an exemplary embodiment, a residence time of packets traversing a service function or virtual network function is measured. The residence time characterizes the processing delay a service function introduces into a network.
(FR) La compréhension des performances d'une chaîne de fonctions de service (SFC) et de la manière dont des fonctions de réseau virtuel (VNF) contribuent aux performances de la SFC peut aider à la maintenance de services et de la qualité d'expérience que l'on attend des VNF. Dans un mode de réalisation donné à titre d'exemple, on mesure un temps de séjour de paquets traversant une fonction de service ou une fonction de réseau virtuel. Le temps de séjour caractérise le retard de traitement qu'une fonction de service introduit dans un réseau.
