Abstract:
(EN) A method for determining a likely location of a device, the device being configured for wireless communication with a communication network including a plurality of cell sites; the method including the following steps: (a) detecting by the device a respective wireless signal from each of a plurality of detected cell sites; (b) accessing a cell plan comprising a database, the database including a plurality of cell site records, each cell site record corresponding to a cell site in the communication network, (c) for each of the detected cell sites, identifying the corresponding detected cell site record in the database; (d) determining a geographical region of interest based on information contained in the cell site records corresponding to the plurality of detected cell sites (e) determining the likely location of the device within the geographical region of interest.
(FR) Un procédé de détermination d'un emplacement probable d'un dispositif, le dispositif étant configuré pour une communication sans fil avec un réseau de communication comprenant une pluralité de sites cellulaires; le procédé comprenant les étapes suivantes : (a) détecter par le dispositif un signal sans fil respectif à partir de chacun d'une pluralité de sites cellulaires détectés; (b) accéder à un plan de cellules comprenant une base de données, la base de données comprenant une pluralité d'enregistrements de sites cellulaires, chaque enregistrement de site cellulaire correspondant à un site cellulaire dans le réseau de communication, (c) pour chacun des sites cellulaires détectés, identifier l'enregistrement de site cellulaire détecté correspondant dans la base de données; (d) déterminer une région géographique d'intérêt sur la base d'informations contenues dans les enregistrements de sites cellulaires correspondant à la pluralité de sites cellulaires détectés (e) déterminer l'emplacement probable du dispositif dans la région géographique d'intérêt.
