Abstract:
(EN) A process is disclosed for the recovery of a metal from a pyrite-bearing material. The process comprises thermally decomposing the pyrite-bearing material so as to produce a material comprising pyrrhotite (FeS). The process also comprises leaching the material comprising pyrrhotite with an acid such that the iron in the pyrrhotite is oxidised to a +3 oxidation state, elemental sulphur is produced and the metal is released from the pyrite-bearing material.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de récupération d'un métal à partir d'un matériau pyriteux. Le procédé comprend la décomposition thermique du matériau pyriteux de façon à produire un matériau comprenant de la pyrrhotite (FeS). Le procédé comprend également la lixiviation du matériau comprenant de la pyrrhotite avec un acide de telle sorte que le fer dans la pyrrhotite est oxydé à un état d'oxydation +3, du soufre élémentaire est produit et le métal est libéré du matériau pyriteux.
