Abstract:
(EN) An apparatus for monitoring combustion and/or controlling operation of an internal combustion engine includes a processor to receive input from a crank angle sensor and a combustion chamber pressure sensor. The processor receives a first pressure signal during a first thermodynamic volume during the compression phase and a second pressure signal during a second thermodynamic volume corresponding to a portion of expansion phase, where thermodynamic volumes are equal or equivalent. The processor determines an indication of combustion quality of each combustion event, such as poor fire or misfire, based on a comparison of the difference between the first and second pressures to a threshold value associated with each volume.
(FR) L'invention concerne un appareil permettant de surveiller la combustion et/ou de commander le fonctionnement d'un moteur à combustion interne. L'appareil comprend un processeur permettant de recevoir une entrée provenant d'un capteur de position de vilebrequin et d'un capteur de pression de chambre de combustion. Le processeur reçoit un premier signal de pression pendant un premier volume thermodynamique pendant la phase de compression et un second signal de pression pendant un second volume thermodynamique correspondant à une partie de phase d'expansion, où des volumes thermodynamiques sont égaux ou équivalents. Le processeur détermine une indication de la qualité de combustion de chaque événement de combustion, comme un feu faible ou un raté d'allumage, sur la base d'une comparaison de la différence entre les première et seconde pressions à une valeur seuil associée à chaque volume.
