Abstract:
(EN) Disclosed is a process for recovering formic acid from a formate ester of a C3 to C4 alcohol. Disclosed is also a process for producing formic acid by carbonylating a C3 to C4 alcohol, hydrolyzing the formate ester of the alcohol, and recovering a formic acid product. The alcohol may be dried and returned to the reactor. The process enables a more energy efficient production of formic acid than the carbonylation of methanol to produce methyl formate.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un procédé de récupération d’acide formique d’un ester de formate d’un alcool en C3 à C4. La présente invention concerne également un procédé de production d’acide formique par la carbonylation d’un alcool en C3 à C4, l’hydrolyse de l’ester de formate de l’alcool, et la récupération d’un produit d’acide formique. L’alcool peut être séché et renvoyé au réacteur. Le procédé permet une production à meilleure efficacité énergétique d’acide formique que la carbonylation de méthanol pour produire le formate de méthyle.
