Abstract:
(EN) A method of concentrating and/or producing lithium hydroxide in an evaporator entails feeding a stream comprising lithium, hydroxide and carbonate to the evaporator. In the evaporator, the feed is concentrated to form lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate crystals. Further, the method entails reducing the tendency of lithium carbonate to scale the evaporator by increasing the concentration of lithium carbonate crystals in the evaporator by: (1) clarifying at least a portion of the concentrate in the evaporator to form a clarified solution; and (2) discharging the clarified solution as a clarified solution stream from the evaporator.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de concentration et/ou de production d'hydroxyde de lithium dans un évaporateur, consistant à introduire un flux comprenant du lithium, de l'hydroxyde et du carbonate dans l'évaporateur. Dans l'évaporateur, la charge est concentrée en vue de former de l'hydroxyde de lithium et des cristaux de carbonate de lithium. En outre, le procédé consiste à réduire la tendance du carbonate de lithium à entartrer l'évaporateur en augmentant la concentration de cristaux de carbonate de lithium dans l'évaporateur par : (1) la clarification d'au moins une partie du concentré dans l'évaporateur en vue de former une solution clarifiée ; et (2) l'évacuation de la solution clarifiée sous la forme d'un flux de solution clarifiée à partir de l'évaporateur.
