Abstract:
(EN) Methods, systems, and computer program products are described herein for automatic collision avoidance and/or bodily injury mitigation. For example, a vehicle determines the optimal action(s) to take to avoid a collision or reduce the bodily injury of occupant(s) of the vehicle in the event that the vehicle determines that the collision is unavoidable. The vehicle performs action(s) that reduce the change of momentum experienced by occupant(s) thereof as a result of the collision. The actions are based on various characteristics of the vehicles that are to be involved in the collision. Such actions may comprise accelerating into and causing a collision with vehicle(s) in front of the vehicle at or around the same time at which a further vehicle rear-ends the vehicle. The system processes several scenarios in real-time (taking into changes of velocity of the vehicles involved) to determine the scenario that best mitigates the change of momentum.
(FR) L'invention concerne des procédés, des systèmes et des produits de programme informatique pour l'évitement automatique d'une collision et/ou l'atténuation automatique de blessures corporelles. Par exemple, un véhicule détermine la ou les action(s) optimale(s) pour éviter une collision, ou réduire les blessures corporelles d'un ou de plusieurs occupant(s) du véhicule dans le cas où le véhicule détermine que la collision est inévitable. Le véhicule effectue une ou plusieurs action(s) qui réduisent le changement de moment subi par un ou plusieurs occupant(s) de celui-ci en résultat de la collision. Les actions sont basées sur différentes caractéristiques des véhicules qui sont amenés à être impliqués dans la collision. Ces actions peuvent comprendre une accélération vers une collision avec un ou plusieurs véhicule(s) à l'avant du véhicule et le fait de provoquer celle-ci au moment, ou presque au moment, où un autre véhicule tamponne l'arrière du véhicule. Le système traite plusieurs scénarios en temps réel (compte tenu des changements de vitesse des véhicules impliqués) de façon à déterminer le scénario qui atténue le mieux le changement de moment.
