Title (EN) METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CHARACTERIZING A WAVEGUIDE
(FR) PROCÉDÉ ET DISPOSITIF DE CARACTÉRISATION D’UN GUIDE D’ONDES
Abstract:
(EN) The present disclosure relates to the characterization of a medium behaving as a waveguide (150) constituting an object by means of ultrasonic excitation signals, in view of ascertaining physical properties of the medium, for example the nature, composition, degree of homogeneity, state, dimension, geometry, elasticity, etc., of the medium. A plurality of guided modes are selectively excited by transmitting, by each transmitter of a plurality of transmitters (105) located at respective transmitting sites, an ultrasonic excitation signal toward the waveguide (150), wherein the ultrasonic excitation signal transmitted by a transmitter is synthetized on the basis of one or more theoretical dispersion curves of a reference waveguide model and corresponds to an expected signal at the location of the concerned transmitting site according to said one or more theoretical dispersion curves of the reference waveguide model.
