Abstract:
(EN) A damper and method are disclosed. The apparatus comprises: a damper having an inner hub for receiving a rotatable structure and a concentric outer mount coupled with the inner hub by at least one spring member which defines at least one damper channel; a magnetic fluid in fluid communication with the damper channel; and a magnetic element operable to control movement of the magnetic fluid within the damper channel. In this way, the magnetic fluid may be retained within the damper channel by the magnetic element without the need of any physical or mechanical seal which can age, resulting in failure, and which can introduce an undesired spring effect.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un amortisseur et un procédé. L'appareil comprend : un amortisseur ayant un moyeu interne pour recevoir une structure rotative et un support externe concentrique accouplé au moyeu interne par au moins un élément ressort qui définit au moins un canal d'amortisseur ; un fluide magnétique en communication fluidique avec le canal d'amortisseur ; et un élément magnétique conçu pour commander le mouvement du fluide magnétique à l'intérieur du canal d'amortisseur. De cette manière, le fluide magnétique peut être retenu à l'intérieur du canal d'amortisseur par l'élément magnétique sans avoir besoin d'un joint physique ou mécanique qui peut vieillir et donner lieu à une défaillance et qui peut introduire un effet de ressort indésirable.
