Abstract:
(EN) Light recycling within a waveguide is achieved by mode conversion instead of resonance. A structure is provided in which light makes multiple passes through the same waveguide by converting the mode to a different mode after each pass and rerouting the light back into the same waveguide. The structure includes a bus waveguide and at least one mode converter device disposed at or adjacent each of two opposing ends of the bus waveguide, wherein each mode converter devices is configured to receive light having a receiving mode along a first direction and to cause light having a different mode from the receiving mode to propagate in a second direction opposite the first direction.
(FR) L'invention concerne un recyclage de la lumière à l'intérieur d'un guide d'ondes qui est obtenu par la conversion de mode au lieu de la résonance. L'invention concerne une structure dans laquelle de la lumière passe de multiples fois à travers le même guide d'ondes par la conversion du mode en un mode différent après chaque passage et le reroutage de la lumière dans le même guide d'ondes. La structure comprend un guide d'ondes de bus et au moins un dispositif convertisseur de mode disposé au niveau de chacune des deux extrémités opposées du guide d'ondes de bus, ou à proximité de celles-ci, chaque dispositif convertisseur de mode étant configuré pour recevoir la lumière ayant un mode de réception le long d'une première direction et pour amener la lumière ayant un mode différent du mode de réception à se propager dans une seconde direction opposée à la première direction.
