A power conversion device (100) is provided with: a booster circuit (3) having a reactor (2), a first leg (31), and a second leg (32) and boosting a first voltage output from an AC power supply (1), the reactor (2) having the first voltage applied thereto, the first leg (31) comprising a series connection of a first upper arm switching element (311) and a first lower arm switching element (312), and the second leg (32) being connected in parallel with the first leg (31) and comprising a series connection of a second upper arm switching element (321) and a second lower arm switching element (322); a first voltage detector (5) for detecting the first voltage; a smoothing capacitor (4) for smoothing the output voltage of the booster circuit (3); and a second voltage detector (7) for detecting a second voltage smoothed by the smoothing capacitor (4). When the second voltage is greater than the first voltage and is less than or equal to twice the first voltage, the width of a second drive pulse for turning on the first upper arm switching element (311) is greater than the width of a first drive pulse for turning on the first lower arm switching element (312).
