Abstract
(EN) An electric pump system and method of operating the same involves pumping a fluid through a fluid passageway defined in a mechanical pump from a pump inlet to a hollow shaft of a motor, through the hollow shaft to an internal motor cavity defined by a housing of the motor, and through another fluid passageway defined in the motor housing and mechanical pump that leads to a pump outlet. The system and method further involve pumping the fluid through another fluid passageway defined in the mechanical pump from yet another pump inlet to the pump outlet. The temperature of fluid exiting the hollow shaft can be assessed and used by an electronic control unit (ECU) of the electric pump system to control the same. The electric pump system can be part of a cooling and lubrication system for an electric vehicle transmission, gearbox, differential or transfer case, for example.
(FR) La présente invention concerne un système de pompe électrique et son procédé de fonctionnement qui impliquent le pompage d'un fluide à travers un passage de fluide défini dans une pompe mécanique à partir d'une entrée de pompe vers un arbre creux d'un moteur, à travers l'arbre creux jusqu'à une cavité de moteur interne définie par un carter du moteur, et à travers un autre passage de fluide défini dans le carter de moteur et une pompe mécanique qui mène à une sortie de pompe. Le système et le procédé impliquent en outre le pompage du fluide à travers un autre passage de fluide défini dans la pompe mécanique depuis encore une autre entrée de pompe vers la sortie de pompe. La température du fluide sortant de l'arbre creux peut être évaluée et utilisée par une unité de commande électronique (ECU) du système de pompe électrique permettant de commander ce dernier. Le système de pompe électrique peut faire partie d'un système de refroidissement et de lubrification pour une transmission de véhicule électrique, une boîte de vitesses, un différentiel ou un boîtier de transfert, par exemple.
