Abstract:
(EN) Electrochemical sensors have great promise for point-of-care and in vivo measurement of medically relevant molecules. However, the need for calibrating individual sensors limits the practical applicability of these sensing platforms. The invention provides a novel method of operating electrochemical sensors which obviates the need to calibrate individual sensors against a sample of known concentration. The invention exploits the frequency dependence of electrochemical output signals and the dependence of output signals on the inherent electron transfer kinetics of a selected sensor design. By use of signals generated at a nonresponsive frequency, a normalizing output value is generated that accounts for sensor-tosensor variation and which enables an accurate calculation of target concentration. The scope of the invention also includes pre-calibrated sensors that may be utilized without calibration steps.
(FR) Les capteurs électrochimiques sont extrêmement prometteurs pour la mesure sur site et in vivo de molécules pertinentes du point de vue médical. Cependant, la nécessité d'étalonner les capteurs individuels limite l'applicabilité pratique de ces plates-formes de détection. L'invention concerne un nouveau procédé de fonctionnement de capteurs électrochimiques qui élimine la nécessité d'étalonner les capteurs individuels en fonction d'un échantillon de concentration connue. L'invention exploite la dépendance en fréquence des signaux électrochimiques de sortie et la dépendance des signaux de sortie à la cinétique de transfert d'électrons inhérente d'une conception de capteur sélectionnée. En utilisant les signaux générés à une fréquence non sensible, est générée une valeur de sortie de normalisation qui tient compte de la variation de capteur à capteur et qui permet un calcul précis de la concentration cible. Le cadre de l'invention comprend également des capteurs pré-étalonnés qui peuvent être utilisés sans étape d'étalonnage.
