Abstract:
An electronic device may have a power system. The power system may receive wireless power or wired power and may use a portion of the received power to charge a battery. Power consumption by control circuitry in the device can be adjusted by deactivating or activating processor cores in the control circuitry and by selectively starting or stopping software activities. The control circuitry is configured to reduce power consumption by the control circuitry in response to motion detected by a motion sensor. If determining that the electronic device is receiving power via a wired connection, the power system is configured to charge the battery while performing a plurality of code-based processor activities; if determining that the electronic device is receiving power wirelessly, the power system is configured to charge the battery and stop at least one of the plurality of code-based processor activities. The power system is also configured that in response to detecting that the power system has transitioned from a first state in which the power system is not receiving power to a second state in which the power system is receiving power, reduce power consuming activities other than charging the battery to enhance battery charging speed.
