Abstract:
(EN) The invention is directed to a process and apparatus for treating an off-gas from a lean burn engine comprising contacting said off-gas with an oxidizing compound, thus producing oxidized NOx compounds, followed by contacting the oxidized NOx compounds with water, by which at least part of said oxidized NOx compounds dissolves in said water. The process of the invention provides for a very efficient means of reducing NOx emission. The equipment for carrying out the process of the invention can be compact, so that it can be used on board without sacrificing too much valuable space and without increasing the weight of the ship too much.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil qui permettent de traiter un dégagement gazeux d'un moteur à mélange pauvre, et qui comprennent la mise en contact dudit dégagement gazeux avec un composé oxydant, ce qui produit des composés oxydés de type NOx, suivie de la mise en contact des composés oxydés de type NOx avec de l'eau, moyennant quoi au moins une partie desdits composés oxydés de type NOx se dissout dans ladite eau. Le procédé de l'invention permet d'obtenir un moyen très efficace de réduction de l'émission des NOx. L'équipement qui permet de mettre en œuvre le procédé de l'invention peut être compact, afin d'être utilisé à bord d'un navire sans sacrifier trop d'espace important et sans trop augmenter le poids du navire.
