Title: COMBUSTION CHAMBER STRUCTURE FOR ENGINES
Abstract:
A combustion chamber structure for engines, comprising a piston crown surface, a cylinder wall surface, a combustion chamber ceiling surface, and a spark plug having an ignition section and igniting at a timing at which the piston is at the compression top dead center or in the vicinity thereof. The piston crown surface has: a cavity recessed in the cylinder axial direction; a creeping section that follows, with a gap therebetween, the corresponding region above the cylinder axial direction in the combustion chamber ceiling surface when the piston is at compression top dead center, in part of an outer peripheral section surrounding the cavity; and an inclined surface section in a region between the creeping section and the cavity rim, provided continuing on from the creeping section and formed so as to be oriented toward the ignition section of the spark plug when the piston is at the compression top dead center. The creeping section and the corresponding region constitute a squish flow generation section that, with the combination of the creeping section and the corresponding region, generate a squish flow when the piston rises.
